Capacity building and creative leadership
Bridging the Gap and Growing Your Skill-base
The team at Tim Gardom Associates have nearly three decades of knowledge and experience, working at the highest level with cultural organisations around the world, and with universities as lecturers, researchers and industry partners.
As a result, we have developed a deep understanding of the processes of creative development and delivery, as well as experience of how they need to adapt for different cultural contexts.
Our team are very experienced at developing, analysing and presenting work at all project stages, from briefing consultants and creative teams through to senior management, stakeholder and national leadership levels.
We also have a clear understanding of the gaps between academic and theory-based learning and real world practise and have developed flexible and integrated approaches for how to bridge them.

Blended and Modular
Our blended approach combines self-directed learning and an evolving resource library, with facilitated workshops and a range of practical online collaborative engagement and creative development tools.
The flexible modular structure enables a continuous, project-linked training experience, as well as giving clients the ability to tailor a package to focus on more specific needs and outcomes.
Practical and project-based training in the present changing context needs to be responsive to evolving needs and able to adapt for different projects and organisations.
Project-based Capacity Building
Increasingly, delivering a cultural project includes the opportunity (and requirement) to integrate educational components, community engagement, knowledge transfer, skills sharing and apprenticeships into your working method.
For sustainable heritage-led regeneration projects, and where the cultural sector and the arts are engaged in a process of rapid development, building capacity and leadership skills is crucial. Opportunities to embed key practical skills and knowledge into your creative ecosystem is especially important.
This process needs to be adaptive and able to identify and respond to the local context and need.
For cultural organisations, we can support you to define the capacity building opportunities for your project brief and to ensure their delivery.
For agencies and creative services organisations, we can help you integrate capacity building into your pitches and planning for project delivery to enhance your offer.
Practical and Project-Based Training
New and developing professionals need to acculturate rapidly to the challenges of working with clients and applying their learning in real project contexts at different levels.
Our flexible and modular approach for training can adapt to be delivered around live projects to meet your capacity, needs and ambitions.
Our experienced team can work with your organisation to devise and deliver practical training programmes for staff at different levels.
