Transplant and Life UK
Client: Royal College of Surgeons
Project: Transplant and Life UK Exhibition (Arts Council England funded)
Collaborators: Tim Wainwright and John Wynne (artists), City-Insights (software), Mark Woods (hardware and design)
Tim Wainwright and John Wynne had spent nearly ten years getting to know patients from across the UK going through the organ transplantation process and recording their experiences using photography, film and sound.
In 2016, Tim and John were funded by the ACE to develop an exhibition of the work at the Royal College of Surgeons’ Hunterian Museum in London.
With the artists and exhibition designer, Mark Woods (Make Your Mark Studio), we co-developed Transplant and Life UK - an immersive and interactive, sensitive and powerful exhibtion giving voice to the patient experience and creating space for people whose voices are sledom heard in contemproary art (exhibition review in The Lancet, here).
Transplant and Life UK and the innovative digital catalogue went on to be used for screenings, including clinician training with the Medical Leadership Academy in London and at the University of New South Wales (AUS). Tim and John were also invited show the work as part of the opening exhibition, Spare Parts: Rethinking human repair, at the brand new Science Gallery London.
Tim Wainwright, dear friend and a remarkable talent, passed away in November 2018 from cancer.
