The Museum of Oxford wanted to create a small exhibition to act as a welcome and orientation for visitors to the city, as well as for Oxford locals. Tim Gardom Associates was appointed to conduct community consultation and create the interpretive strategy.
This went on to become Explore Oxford, two galleries in the Town Hall exploring 700 years of Oxford City's history and revolving around the museum’s collections. Key themes about the city run through the galleries - City at Play, City at Work, City of Words and City of Invention.
We worked with a volunteer team to research chosen objects and conduct interviews with local people and groups.
We commissioned new films, maps and illustrations. Two popular galleries integrate with the city-wide web-based digital heritage trails for smartphones, OxfordExplore.com, created with digital partners at City-Insights Ltd.
