Client: The Ashmolean Museum, University of Oxford, UK
Project: Interpretation & Text Toolkit, Heritage Lottery funded
Collaborators: Ashmolean Learning and Design teams
The Ashmolean needed a new voice to address its visitors. This had to convey academic expertise through a transformed cultural destination and redisplay of all collections.
TGAC developed an Interpretation and Text Toolkit to underpin the project, based on audience research, individual sessions with curators and workshops that explored visitor types and learning styles.
We helped the Ashmolean team develop their own writing skills and extend the interpretive voice across the museum for different audiences. This covered all panels, labels, family learning and on-screen text in each gallery.
The Toolkit continues to be used by the Ashmolean temporary exhibitions and most recently the new Egyptian and Nubian galleries.
