Client: Government of Gran Canaria
Project: MUSEO DE BELLAS ARTES DE GRAN CANARIA (MUBA), European Union competition
Collaborators: Forward Architects, Hotrod Creations
TGAC partnered with Forward Architects to enter a competition to create a masterplan and design, museography and business case for the new home for Gran Canaria's art and cultural heritage. We were shortlisted in the competition.
Our approach responded to the existing architectural spaces of the historically important St Martin Hospital, sustainable environment requirements and the spirit of place. This seamlessly linked the indoors and outside spaces, as well as the display, learning and conservation facilities.
Our submission allowed the architecture and museography to work together, creating a charismatic destination, a socio-cultural space for debate and a new model for cultural community engagement.
Our scheme was shortlisted among the finalists from over 30 entries.
