The Museum of Oxford wanted to create a small display to act as a welcome and orientation for visitors and Oxford locals. TGAC was appointed to conduct community consultation and create the interpretive strategy.
This went on to become Explore Oxford, two galleries in the Town Hall focusing on 700 years of Oxford City's history and revolving around the museum’s collections. Key themes about the city run through the galleries - City at Play, City at Work, City of Words and City of Invention.
TGAC worked with a volunteer team to research chosen objects and conduct interviews with local people and groups. We commissioned new films, maps and illustrations. Two popular galleries now integrate with the city-wide to-mobile digital heritage trails, OxfordExplore.com, created in partnership between TGAC and City-Insights Ltd.
